If you’re reading this, just know that I managed to overcome my fear of starting this blog. For someone who used to write a lot back in secondary school, it’s unbelievable that I’ve struggled to get back into the game for over 2 years now. One of the reasons why I stopped writing is that I couldn’t balance my school work and hobby, but I’ll lay it all out for you bit by bit as time goes on (yep, you’re definitely coming back to read more of my posts).
Let me try getting you up to speed about how I’m only starting my blog now. Back in 2017 when I started my online magazine, one of the objectives was that I write most of the articles there. To my surprise, I got over 100 writers who wanted to contribute articles to it, which was quite thrilling. All this happened within a month of operating, as much as it was a kind gesture, it made me comfortable to a point that I did not see the need for me to write any article ‘cause I mean there’s like a 100 more people who want to do that so I can just focus on other things.
As we grew, running the magazine took my time, way more than I had anticipated. Entrepreneurs can attest to this; my business became my life. To cut the long story short, late 2018 I introspected on my life and how there’s so much more that I’d love to do than to just run a digital publication.
I believe that I’m a smart young woman, and I needed a platform to share my thoughts, the things I learn in life and to mingle. There’s a lot more I’d like to achieve, but this is where I want to be now. One of the things that made me hesitate to start my blog sooner, was that I’ve seen how most blogs have Fashion, Beauty, Food etc, of which none of these categories were what I wanted my blog to be about.
This one time I sook advice from my Twitter page, I asked how do I go about starting a blog and being consistent with it? Of all the responses I got, I managed to keep one in my mind, which is the advice that made me start my blog. The advice was “Write about you know and enjoy the most”.
Which brings me to my next point, this blog is about Business and Lifestyle. I’ve been in the Business field for 2 years now, throughout this time I’ve learned and grown as an entrepreneur. This also made me realize the shortfalls entrepreneurs in the start-up phase experience, and I want to fill the gap through my Business Category. One other thing I can say I’ve always wanted to do is to contribute positively to people’s lives, in terms of self-development, outlining the significance of loving yourself as a person and being a part of that journey to self-love.
I suffered from the absence of self-love during my teenage years and I can attest to “self-hate is the worst kind of hate”. I genuinely hope my self-development subcategory contributes positively to your life. Ultimately, I’d love for this platform to be one of your go-to places when you’re in need of inspirational, informative or any relevant content that I’ll be covering. I’ll be sharing a LOT on this blog, so I hope you’re not planning on leaving and never coming back. I edge you to subscribe to my newsletter as well. I will be dropping weekly affirmations under my NotesToMyself category, be sure to check it out every Monday morning. Lastly, please note that what I share here is simply my opinions, I am not a life coach, certified business advisor or an expert, I just enjoy writing about the categories mentioned above.
Thank you so much for reading my first blog post, feel free to leave your comments on the comment section or email me directly firstname.lastname@example.org if there’s anything you’d like to me to cover in the near future (in line with what I mentioned above of course 😊).
